I can't believe I'm FINALLY typing this post! I've been sitting on this blog for over 2 years now, and I'm finally ready to take the plunge. I suppose moving across the country will do that to you/
A little about me to start...
I've been playing with makeup for as long as I can remember. I was a dancer for 11 years and when I was young, my favorite part was putting makeup on for recitals. As I got older, I became involved in theater and learned the techniques of stage makeup--zombies and ghosts, aged makeup, all those fun special effects types of makeup. I also learned here how to wear makeup for stage and camera. I feel like some of my best makeup training was in these years, how to prevent the dreaded "lightbulb face" (where your makeup is either reflecting flash and/or is too light of a shade, not matching the rest of your body), how to keep makeup lasting and looking fresh under hot lights, how much to wear for photos. I could go on and on, but it really gave me a great foundation to build on with my makeup artistry.
On a professional level I've strictly done makeup on the side for over 5 years. I say on the side, because by degree I'm an RN. Why on earth, do you ask, would I trade a lucrative medical career for makeup? Dreams, people! Dreams! I got a swift kick in the butt this last move. My husband is Active Duty Air Force and we recently relocated from Colorado Springs, CO to Destin, FL. I've been job hunting daily for a nursing job and NOTHING. NADA. I guess that's what happens when you live in a small town. But what better catalyst to allow me to try something new? I may still pursue nursing on a PRN (as needed) basis, but I want makeup to be my full time job. I hate the word job because it implies work.. to me, makeup isn't work! It's fun, it's creative, it's so satisfying. There is nothing better than making a woman look and feel absolutely stunning for whatever her special event may be. Over the years I've done wedding makeup and portrait makeup for friends and family, which I will be adding to my blog. I also, of course, do my own makeup for all special events, including my own wedding a la Kate Middleton (but way back in 2009!!) and I'll be posting pictures of those as well.
I'll slowly be building my portfolio and also blogging my own looks! I'm also HUGELY inspired by other bloggers and Pinterest, so I may be drawing inspiration or making recreations of their looks using my own products, but don't worry, I'll always be giving them credit and linking back to their posts!
Please email me if you'd like to set up a consultation or see any of my work before I get it up on the blog!
